Update on the stang
Not sure how many have been following, but I just got the call from the machine shop that my World Product heads are ready to be picked up. They installed new springs to spec of the TFS-1 cam I have and said I can run the 1.7 rockers I have, but I am planning on switching over to a set of 1.6's (I think). I am back and forth on that one.
The heads will be going on, along with a new fuel system, all though I will be keeping a mechanical fuel pump. Gotta put a new set of springs in the rear, rebuild the trac loc, and install new auto meter gauges with a new painless wiring harness when the weather gets to hot for enjoyable cruising. Oh yeah, and I plan on bumping the stereo up a bit and maybe putting the 6AL in. Forgot, getting a new 2.5 inch exhaust to open it up a bit. A lot of work, but will finish off a few details I have ignored for a while now and possibly get me to the low 13's I hope for. I will post up pics of the progress. A lot of work, but should be sweet when I get it all wrapped up. |

Very nice. Are you getting a new alternator too? Sounds like you'll need it. Those painless wiring harnesses look very nice.

Re: Update on the stang
Two or three years ago I put an electric fan set up in the car. When I did that, a local Alternator shop re-did my alternator and made it put out 85-95 amps, and it was suppose to put out more at lower rpms also. I haven't seen a need to upgrade it more, but probably will to be in the safe side.

Re: Update on the stang
So I pulled an all niter and the dang thing still has a way to go. I can not get the ******* dist to engage the oil pump shaft for the life of me. Stupid little thing just keeps flopping from side to side.
Gotta run to the parts store to get s slightly longer bolt for the alternator. Seems the threads on this head start a 1/4 inch further into the head then my old heads did. Suppose to use the 3924 Autolite plugs in the head, but that is not gonna work with my headers. Cylinder #5 is just a tad to close and I cant even thread it in by hand. Gotta do some searching on where I can get a shorter plug I guess. It is not looking promising that I will make the cruise in this Sat. Ryan |
Re: Update on the stang
Thrash! My brother and I spent several all-nighters working on his camaro, putting the engine back into it. After doing all nighters, it still didnt run. Currently It still doesnt, this is his second weekend he took off from working on his car. Moral of this story, I have no idea, and just hope your luck is better than ours!
