transmission swap
Just wondering if someone can tell me witch year car or truck I can get a AODE or AOD to use in my 1992 mustang with a carb'ed motor. How would I or would I have to run the EEC with it? Any Idea's would really help. thanks.

Re: transmission swap
Can't use the aode, it needs the right computer, which started in 94.

Re: transmission swap
Right. I'm going with the AOD for now. Is there any wires on the aod that i will need to use? was the balance of all EFI 302's the same with auto trans.?

Re: transmission swap
The only wires that hook up to an aod are the ones for the park/neutral/reverse light switch. the cable that hooks to the lever by the shift lever is not a kickdown, it is a tv cable, if you don't find a way to hook this up, your aod will be short lived.

Re: transmission swap
I'm not sure what a tv cable is ? Don't mean to sound dumb but I don't fool with auto's very much.

Re: transmission swap
You want to use an AOD for your swap. 89-93 are the best years for trans. ealier AOD's can be used with some minor upgrades. Mustang AOD transmissions are a straight swap for a c-4 or a t-5 . If you use a linc trans you have to shorten the driveshaft. The Throttle Valve cable controls the Line Pressure of the trans. It MUST be hooked up and adjusted properly or you will smoke the trans in just a few miles. Lokar make an adpt. bracket that will hook it up to a Holley. the AODE is electronically controlled. If you wanted to go with an electronic trans I would use a 4r70w. Check out Click Click Racing for excellent AOD info. Daniel
