Brake Problems 2001 GT Sticking hard
Hello everyone. We have a 2001 Ford Mustang GT. For some reason today, the brakes started sticking something terrible. By the end they were almost completely stuck. You could let go of the accellerator and it would stop very quickly. If you have the patience to wait 30 min or so, the brakes start working again, and slowly stop as time moves on.
You can smell the brakes, and the brakes are faily new, less than 1/4 wear on them. Any ideas on what to do next? It has traction control and ABS. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Brake Problems 2001 GT Sticking hard
your caliper pistons are sticking, common on the 99-04 models. Jack up the wheels and spin them and you will determine which is sticking. Remove the calipers and blow out the pistons and clean them. I had the same problems with mine, left front and right rear.

yeah i had a friend who had the same problem but he decided he was going to drive it anyway. He wore out the brake pads, then the steel behind the brake pad and finally destroyed the caliper and rotor. I would get that fixed asap.
