Re: plug gapping for nitrous

if i were u id go with motorcraft plugs.get 2 stages colder than stock if u need the part number i can give u it.set timing at 12.fuel pump get a walbro 255lp dont waster ur time with a 190lph get the 255lph and that way u can upgrade injectors at any time and not worrie about needing a bigger pump.also a good fuel pressure regulator and gauge. if your going wet nitrous set at 44psi and thats with the vaccum line off the regulator.and the pump is in the tank.there easy un bolt the filler neck ,dissconnect lines and unbolt straps ,unclip the wiring and then use a flat blade screw drive and a hammer to remove the ring for the sending unit .its eaiser on an empty tank.nno need for injectors on a 100shot.

gap plugs .005 less than stock with the colder plugs u will loose 10hp n/a and gain 10hp on the juice
good luck mike

Re: plug gapping for nitrous

thanks for the quick response man, do i HAVE to upgrade my fuel pump right now for me to use the 100 shot?, or can i just use the 75 shot for now safely w/o the fuel pump? i'm going to get a fuel pump and regulator later down the road when i get the kit paid off, and yes i would like the part #'s if you have them...

Re: plug gapping for nitrous

I replied to your other thread, but do not spray anything with the stock fuel pump. The stock pump will barely feed a stock engine let alone a shot of nitrous.

bull s***T..i and my friend both ran 125 shots for 3 summers every friday night plus street racing with no lean problems.and i have had a 150 this last summer .so thats 4 summers on the stock pump with a min of on bottle a week for 5 months a year for 4 years

What were your AFR's?
Here's some basic info for ya. The stock fuel pump is rated at 88 lph, at what psi I'm not sure but for the purpose of this we'll assume at least 40 psi. So assuming the pump is in perfect mechanical condition and can still flow the rated #'s, you're getting proper voltage from the stock alternator and you're not losing any flow thru the stock fuel lines along with a few other variables you'd be flowing 88 l/h or 22.88 g/h or 137.28 lbs/h. 137.28 lbs/h with a bsfc of .5 would enable you to support 274.56 bhp. So that's a best case scenario. So tack on your 75/100/125/150 shot to the rated 225 hp from the factory and you were "best case" out of fuel a long time ago.

And Dale when you change the fuel pump make sure you use a brass punch as gasoline vapors are highly flammable and a flat head screw driver scraping against the retaining ring may cause a spark.

Goodyear, you're definately entitled to your opinion, but 1989GT is a long time member and def has a reputation of knowing what he's talking about, maybe instead of immediately bashing his suggestion, you could take in to consideration he is suggesting a safe tune for Dale, not to mention the fact that it was never mentioned if the kit was a dry or wet kit. I'm sure the stock pump would hold up with the wet kit, but a 150 dry kit is pushing the limits with the stock pump, not that it can't be done, anything is possible, it's just not the best practice......especially without proper tuning software..

Dale, I ran a 150 dry kit and went with Autolite 23's at that time. The 23's are safe for everyday driving as well. 10 degrees advanced is a safe tune to start with and I again would humbly recommend a larger fuel pump and adjustable FPR at a minimum. Is this kit a dry or wet kit?

Re: plug gapping for nitrous

1. Get a 255 lph fuel pump
2. I wouldnt spray anymore than a 100 shot, even that is going to trash your stock auto in no time.
3. Start off with a small shot and work your way up.
4. Buy some slicks and be safe.

Re: plug gapping for nitrous

mabey a little rough how i said it but sometimes the truth hurts.i never said a 150 shot dry and if u called zex and asked for 150 jets for there dry system they would tell you not to use it!the only good thing i see on this page was not to use more than a 100 with the junk aod trannys planetary will explode.i and every mustang guy around here wouldnt even run autolights in there chainsaws.i use motorcrafts 2 stages cooler and get just under 10hp gain proven on a dyno jet .srry to hurt any ones feeling specially -usmc- but when i saw that he said the stock pump wont hold up to a 100 shot well thats just plane funny.dont get me wrong i did rec that he gets a 255lph and it is a great idea but ur not gonna burn 7 out of 8 pistons with a 100 shot lol

thanks for all the replies guys:cool:....im gettin a 255lph BBK fuel pump,it is a WET ZEX kit...i'm not going to go any higher than the 100 shot, i gapped the autolite 24's to .(how ever many zeros)35...the auto WAS rebuilt with harder planetarys and clutch bands and what not, and it has a B&m shift kit, trust me, if its taken all that i've thrown at it so far BEFORE the squeez, its not stock:D...im was playing around with a few freinds tonight and i kept up with a guy that has a hatch with a H/c/I until around 60-70...i was very proud, especially with the 2.73 gears and just the 75 shot!
