Help With A Swap,
HEY JUST BOUT TO DO A SWAP, GOING FROM A 97, 3.8 TO A 5.0.... NOW I KNOW ALL THE MAJOR CONCERNS BUT REALLY LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE THE SWAP OR DIRECT ME TO SOME ONE WHO IS WILLING TO HELP PROBLEM SOLVE ISSUES, :confused:
:cool:NOW LET ME LET YALL IN ON WHAT IM WORKING WITH, 89 5.0 BORED TO A 306...PROBE DOME TOP FORGED PISTONS UPPING THE CR TO 10.5:1 REBUILT INTERNALS NEW BEARINGS, E303 CAM 1.6:1 RR, GT40 HEADS P&P WITH THE FULL VALVE JOB OF 1.94(INT) 1.60(EXH) NEW RODS BOLTING ON THE 94-95 FRONT BRACKETS FOR THE ACC. U/D PULLIES STOCK 89 INTAKE ( JUST TO SEE WHAT THE DYNO SAYS) 94-95 WIRING HARNESS AND TRANNY HARNESS OUT OF A DONOR CAR.... :eek: NOW.... THOUGHTS I HAVE, :D -HOW DO I SET UP THE LINKAGE ON THE THROTTLE BODYS -DO I NEED TO SET UP THE EGR VALVE OFF A 89-93 CAUSE IM NOT USING THE 94-95 GT UPPER -HOOD CLEARANCE ISSUES ( WILL I BE OK) -WHAT BOUT THE OBD2 SYSTEM, WILL HOOKING IT UP TO A OBD1 FRY THE EEC ( THE DATA LINK CONNECTION, ) - DO I NEED THE UNDER THE DASH WIRING, LOOKS LIKE IT WILL PLUG AND PLAY, -DOES ANY ONE "REALLY " KNOW HOW P.A.T.S.WORKS, IF I SWAP THE COMP, WILL IT STILL WORK, IT JUST SEEMS AS AN INTERRUPTER..NO CHIP NO SIGNAL TO COMP TO START, ) - ? -? -? -? AND THE LIST GROWS THE MORE I THINK BOUT IT.. JUST THOUGHT ID THROW THAT OUT TO SEE WHAT YALL THINK , THANKS....JAMES (KT TX):) |

hey bud i did the swap from 4cly to 5.0 in my 93, my doner car was a 91 the only prob i had was the 93 had the fuel pump relay under the hood on the 4cly harness. i wish i new more about the newer ones but i didnt have to touch the dash harness on mine and i bet u wont on your either. i put gt guadge cluster in my v6 and every thing reads fine so i guess the wiring on the 6 and gt are the same. if u want the easy way put a carb on it and a msd ignition. but if u go to MPS they can help u. good luck the only thing i can tell you is the upper intake will not clear on a sn95 mustang, that why the 94 95 mustang 5.0s had a different upper intake to claer the shock tower, but they my make a adapter for the older intakes.

First off-use the 94-95 GT upper cause it will simplify the hell out of the install. get a 94-95 TB linkage and 94-95 EGR. The PATS system is a pain in the ass to get around. If the dash wiring plugs up you should be good. If you are using a 94-95 5.0 harness,sensors and ECU you should be good. I helped a guy put a 4.6 in a 1992 coupe and the PATS system drove us crazy. I suspect it will have to be disabled when doing a 5.0swap |
