Heater Core Help
Hi All,
I have a 1989 Mustang GT with AC that started leaking Antifreeze onto the floor this morning. I only drive the car occassionally in the summer and never use the heater or the AC. Is there a safe way to bypass the Heater Core without having it lead to other problems like overheating? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Chad |

Re: Heater Core Help
Thanks. Will this lead to any over heating problems? Also, I was searching some old posts and saw some notes about a sensor in one of the lines, is this something I have to worry about?

Re: Heater Core Help
Replacing my heater core in my 91 was one of the worst jobs I ever did on my car. Its a pain, but you gotta do it if you want no leaks and want heat. If not, just bypass the heater as posted before.
Get a manual if you decide to do it. Even a Chiltons manual will get you on the right track. |
Re: Heater Core Help
its not that bad to do if you know what bolts to take out..still takes the better part of 4 hours with air tools

Re: Heater Core Help
Thanks everyone for the help. I bypassed it and its working fine for now. Now I just need to find out if my valves are ticking or if its an exhaust leak... Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks. |
