what to look for when buying a fox

hello everyone i am new to the forum. as the title says i am looking to buy a foxbody mustang 87-93 but want to know what to look for. i would like to get a notchback but if i cant get one then ill settle for a fastback. it seems to me that i can get a decent mustang for under 4 grand with 5 lug, headers, intake, gears, etc etc, even see some strokers, or supercharged mustangs. im just curious if anyone has input on if buying one with all that stuff done to it will be worth it. i know if will perform better and be quicker, but should i just buy a clean one thats stock, maybe lower miles vs more performance stuff. any ways i couldnt find anything like that one your forum so i figured i would shoot n ask the question. hope someone can help me out. thanks.:D

well make sure the strut towers arent rotted out,and make sure the rear torque boxes are intact.make sure the car runs and shifts good.i personally would rather buy one that has some performance parts on it but u have to make sure that the work was done good and not all hacked up.also make sure there is no acident history

Look for rust, leaks, and as goodyear mentioned, get the CARFAX. The 87-93 models you referenced do not have a fastback model, only coupe, hatchback, and GT. Also, keep in mind that those years did not come with 5lug, any 5lug 87-93 you find will be aftermarket, so you'll want to be sure it was done right the first time. I knew a guy who bought a coupe with 5lugs and the tie rod came off a week after he bought it while he was driving. if you have any doubts, bring it to ford and have them inspect it. I have my 95GT for saleif your interested. Good luck.
