Is 209 rwhp Ok for my mods?

Hey guys,

I recently took my car to the dyno and made 208.7 rwhp @ 4703 rpm and 262.9 ft/lb @ 3515 rpm. It also make 205 to 208.7 rwhp from 4300 rpm to 5000 rpm. And 260 to 264 ft/lb of torque from 3000 to 4000 rpm. My mods are listed in my signature.

The car made 188rwhp@4431rpm and 264.1ft/lb@3481rpm before the intake, 1.7 RR and 1 5/8 headers.

Personally, I think my 2.25" h-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers are holding me back. What do you guys think?

Sounds to me like your peak is at a low RPM, 208 at the wheels is around 250 flywheel, right guys? somewhere there abouts? sounds a tad low for your mods, what's your timing at? In my opinion, you're not getting as much top end power as you could be, but I'm not sure. What does everyone else think?

It looks alright, maybe a tad low. Maybe the 24#ers are holding you back a bit.

24lb injectors are good for 300+ plus horsepower. Changing to a 2.5 in exh. might give you a little more. If you get a new high flow cat hpipe you could pick up a little torque.

24# injectorsare good up to 450hp.

19 lber's are good for nearly 350hp.

I don't see anything wrong with your numbers. I certainly wouldn't expect more than 225rwhp.

Peak power is not low, it's as high as you should expect with stock heads/cam. Stock is 4200rpm.

The H pipe may be costing you a couple hp, but nothing significant, the exhaust after the H is not hurting at all.

The 24lb injectors probably have a pretty poor spray pattern because they are so far overkill.

The thing that is really holding you back at this point is the weak factory heads. The HO cam is okay, you could be more aggressive with an E cam with your current intake/exhaust combo though.

Yeah, you probably are a tad rich on the top end with those 24's set at 35 psi. I have heads/cam/intake etc... and run 24 lb injectors at 35 psi (WOT)

Dangit Unit, you beat me to it. The stock heads are whats holding you back. Stock 5.0 heads are pretty much crap.

It seems like your flywheel horse power would be in the upper 230's lower 240's.

The numbers sound about right to me.

If you have it dynoe'd again have them use a wide band oxygen sensor. I'd expect about another 15-20hp more for that combo so I'll bet those horses are somewhere in the tuning. I'd even consider going back to the stock MAF and 19lb injectors.

What I meant on my post up there were that the 24#'s were a bit much.

exhaust holding you back? Holding what back?

You picked up 20 horsepower with an intake manifold swap on a stock engine(basically). You should be happy!

Oh I'm happy alright. Even though peak hp was 20. At 5000 rpm, I made 35 rwhp over the old set up. The old set up made ~170rwhp the new setup was still at 205rwhp. I'm trying to get a digital camera so I came show you guys the graphs.

50rush 08-11-2001 10:02 PM

Geez, you guys think those numbers sound alright or a tad low? I must have a keeper then. I thought my car was about average, if not a little low. BONE-STOCK, car ran a 15.1 @ 92.3mph w/ 2.4 60'. After only MAC longtubes, h-pipe, catback, 3.55's, and free mods, car ran 14.3 @ 97.4mph w/2.2 60'. (Free- 15 deg timing, TB coolant bypass, smog pump bypass) I wish I had dynoed it stock. Currently, it put down 224.0hp @5000 and 292.1TQ @ 3500. I would want a heck of alot more with all those mods.

With New heads you will make alot more power It is your Stock heads that are holding you back I have used my G-tech and It says I have about 180-190RWHP I wish there was a Dyno around here http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif
