Pop a Wheelie

I was wondering about how much horse power or torque it takes to lift the front wheels of a 95 mustang car a foot or more off the ground? Could you do it on street tires?
Just wondering, any help would be great!

Not sure about the HP portion, but it is a combination of traction, and weight transfer.. you could have a car with enuff hp, but not enough traction or weight transfer to the rear...

probly could'nt do it on regular street tires, they would break loose before they hooked enuff to lift the front of the car...

Some day (3:73 gears & N2O)!!!

will this ever end????

There is a guy that has a car with Shot 150HP and it does that.

JerryIII's dead on. Some cars that have been race prepped (interior padding removed, rear seat deletes, lightweight seats, etc.) with tubular K-members, good rear control arms, and slicks could probably do it with near stock HP. It's 90% weight transfer and traction, 10% power.

So I pushed it up to 110,
That flathead motor was about to give in,
I crossed my fingers and prayed to the lord,
Don't let me down you fuct up ford!"

Just go down to the nearest hardware store and buy 5 or 6 bags of concrete mix. Place them as far back in your hatch as possible, so you have a ton of weight behind the axle.

Launch like normal and watch the wheelstand! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

No you could not lift the wheels off the ground on normal street tires, if you have that much power, you will just roast the tires hardcore. About lifting the front wheels off the ground, it all depends on your set-up.

well what if your "normal" Street tires are cheater slicks. Yes it can be done but not consistantly. i lifted my car the first time and almost pissed myself it was right after some pro stock cars layed down some numbers and they soaked down the track with traction compond before the "street" event it was the best launch i ever have had also ruinned my torque boxxes.
