Tranny Fluid type??

I wanted to know what type of tranny fluid my 92 5.0 uses?
Would Mercon/Dextron work? Or would it cause problems? If so what kind.!

Mercon auto transmission fluid is recommend by Ford for both the AOD and the T-5.
The T-5 takes 5.6 pints.
Synthetic tranny fluid is readily available and recommended. Get a magnetic drain plug, too. Change every 20,000 miles or so.

A guy that sold me my t-5, told me to use type-f, he said it would create less heat than mercon, he knows his stuff pretty well, he said he understands that ford recomends mercon/dextron, but he swears by it (type f), also said to never use synthetic in your t-5, i believe this guy, and have been using type-f with no problems in the t-5 he sold me, and have already ran it several times on the strip.

Don't know about using Type - F but I see no reason to switch.
Synthetic oil is superior in every way to conventional transmission fluid. I've use synthetic Mercon fluid for about three years in my 112,000-mile T-5 with no problems.

To each his own.
