Fair price for head installation?

What's a reasonable price to pay for a head and roller rocker instalation, just labor, not parts?
Thanks.

I would do it myself just a bit nervous about the roller rocker instalation and adjustments (stud mount).

I wouldn't pay more than $400.00 dollars to replace the heads. They have to remove the rollers anyway to get to the heads so that should'nt cost any more.Buy your own gaskets though.
Fel-pro head gaskets 2 x 49.50
Fel-pro 1250 1 x 19.95
Fel pro 1415 1 x 14.95
Synthetic oil 5 x 4.95
Anti freeze 1 ga x 5.00
Oil filter 1 x 5.00

That should cover all costs. Good Luck!

umm depending on what kind of roller rockers you want, if you want studs be prepared to pay more, I paid close to 1000$ canadian for a pair of completely rebuilt cast heads with bolt in studs and pushrod guide plates. along with this you'll need a set of hardened pushrods(45$ cnd) and the rockers as well(350+ $ cnd), there are also stock replacement roller rockers which require no machining at all to install then the only cost to you would be the cost of the rockers (prolly between 200-350$ cnd)
I personally reccomend the bolt-in studs because they are stronger and can handle higher spring pressures and taller cam profiles, without the risk of breaking. anywho thats my 2 cents. Sean

$400 is cheap. The actual book time for replacing both heads is 13 hours. That means you can expect to pay 13 times whatever the shops labor rate is (usually between $45 and $65 an hour for an indy). One head books at 8.6 hours. Shop around.

Take care

Good Lord don't take it to one of those places. If you take it to a place that goes by the book your gonna get screwed. Hell if anything go to a high performance shop and walk around to the mechanics bays and ask how much they would do it for on the side. They love side jobs.
