351 heads screwing stuff up?

I bought this beast mustang but it has 351 windsor senior heads on it. I cant figure what the deal is with it lately. A horrible thing happneed so i had to rebuild the engine but the enigne then started making a thunking noise. or sometihng more like a hard ticking. It seems to be consistent with my RPM's as well. I replaced all of my pushrods and also have harland sharpe rollar rocker arms for 302 or 351(is there a diffrence?) I als had to replace one lifter. Im guessing its the lifter but i dont know why. would a stock lifter screw something up ? I dont know if the other lifters were aftermarket or not. Please help me out guys its becoming quite aggravating havin to tear my enigne apart every other day. Thanks

ARE THESE DART WINDSOR SR. HEADS? AND IF THEY ARE DID YOU REPLACE THE PISTONS WITH THE REBUILD.

Why in the world would you "rebuild" an engine and not buy new lifters? I'm baffled.

define 'rebuild'......

pushrods, roller rockers and one lifter, does not a rebuild make!!

ticking thet increases with rpm's is the valve train... but then again define 'ticking'

Well actually i didnt rebuild i jsut rerings and nmew gaskets near everywehre. polished up the heads and jsut made evrything a little nicer. The motor was rebuilt just about 10,000 miles before i got it so everything was near brand new ayway thus i didnt replace evrything. and the pistons are the same. the lifter somehow scterred adn worked a spring to my oil pump and lcoked it up is what happned so i replaced it. lost oil pressure and bent all my pushrods.

Well i dont know if this is your problem but i had the Harland Sharp rockers and they ticked like hell, And my valvetrain and block were completely new, I had to replace those rockers with the SVO Rockers, This solved the problem.

Be very leary of used or cheaper roller rockers. I had a set of no-name-brand rollers on my Chevelle. After a few 1/4 mile passes at the drag strip, I developed a hard ticking. This was a pretty reliable motor until then...well, I gues until I added the different rockers. I replaced the higher ratio with ones of the factory ratio. I didn't feel I needed the little extra lift they were giving as the cam already had over .610" as it was (it was a big block 396 Chevy motor). One of the rockers broke a chunk off in front of one of the roller tips that rests on the tip of the valve stem. After the motor grenaded itself, a teardown revealed that the missing piece was the cause. You get what you pay for. Try not to save too many dollars on cheap parts.
