Timing Question

The timing in my Cobra had been bumped down to 9 degrees?!?! Im gonna bump it up, but what is the safest #, considering I want some performance gain. I'm thinking 12-13 degrees?

If your running 93 octane, I'd say go with 14, If not keep it around 10 or 11.
my .02 cents

I put in 91octane. Should I just go 10deg? Thanks.

I wouldn't try anything over 12. Try it and see how the car runs. Good Luck

I would try 14 first, go out on street and hammer it from about 30-40 mph in a higher gear and listen for knock. You can always go up or down from there. John

I'm running 16 on 91 and it's fine. I can get away with 89 unless it's way hot. I know others can't run the factory setting on 91. I'd take John's advice and try 14 and go from there.

Ask Sky how far he was able to advance the timing in his Saleen, and run on 87 pump gas. You will be amazed. The bottom line is that every set up is different. Try 14 degrees, and if there is no pinging, go to 15, etc. If you start to lose power, go back.

It's all about trial and error. There is no one answer.

Take care

My timming is set at 33 total timming with the spout off, what I got on my car using 93 octane. What a diffrence in power and I have no pinging.
