Will this COMBO run me 11's from running 14.20??
OK... I have a 91 Mustang GT. The following mods is the configuration I ran with running a 14.29@95
-Auto with a Shift Kit (stock stall converter) -Aluminum Drive Shaft -4.10 Gears -New POSI -Hoosier Quicktime PRO 27x10.5x15 -Electric Fan -No-Cats' 2 1/2 H-Pipe -2 1/2 Flowmasters with 2 1/2 tailpipes -Removed Smog pump and got short belt -Jegs brand adjust. upper and lower control arms adjusted to stock length. (metal bushings everwhere except poly. at upper control arm at the axle) -Sub Frame Connectors (bolted on at this point) -Back Seats removed and some rear sound deading Everything else is stock on the car... It has nearly all options including a/c. Everything is still in place except for the rear seats so it should be close to stock weight. What I want to know what HEADS/INTAKE/CAM/INJECTORS/THROTTLE BODY/MAF/HEADERS/TRANS MOD. (i want to keep my shortblock the same!!) that I will need to run high 11's. People say its possible with just those mods. Please let me know what you would suggest to acheive this if what i have listed below if a BUNCH OF BULL. What was suggested to me was Trickflow Alum Twist Wedge 2.02 STAGE 2 PORTED (possibly milled to increase compression). Trickflow TRACK HEAT intake (box stock). Stage 2 Trickflow cam, 24lb (maybe 30) injectors. 75mm TB and 80mm MAF. Suggested also was a C4 trans. with a 3000 stall converter. I'm planning on getting long tube 1 5.8- 1 3/4 headers with 3 inch collectors. What do you think this would get me in the 11s in the 1/4? I know I'll need a roll cage running 11's so i'm excited. For once I will have the money!! I want to do this without any power adders, all motor!!! PLEASE HELP :-) ------------------ Joe Zemaitis Grand Rapids Michigan |
I dont think that with milled TW heads you would be able to run the stage 2 cam. P/V clearance problems.

If your going to swap tranny's why not get a 5 speed, it will get you closer to your goals of running high 11's with that combo.
Yes it can be done, but don't mill the heads. I agree don't mill the heads if you want to use stock pistons, if you mill them go to 58cc and notch your factory pistons and get a custom cam. My AFM cam made a huge difference in my motor and I made a device very similar to the TEA so I could fly cut the pistons while still in the block. They rent it for $50 plus shipping.
Look at my mods: The car should go 11's with cool weather and with the 4:30's that the cam is ground for I am hoping for 11.50's when it is all said and done. I am going to a set of 30# injectors and a 75mm TB as well. My car weighs 3170 with me, and it is doesn't have the back seat because of the way my cage is with a X brace to the shock towers. If you stay with the Automatic you are going to need a lot more stall, I like Sky's idea about a 5 spd, that would make it easier. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension, SPEC stage III clutch, Lakewood SFI bell, S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! <B>12.16 @ 113.5, 1.78 60ft..no traction in the 90 degree [This message has been edited by Rick 91GT (edited 09-26-2001).] [This message has been edited by Rick 91GT (edited 09-26-2001).] |
