Removal of old balancer

Guys I just got a Romac harmonic dampner. I have the pulley off, which way does dampner bolt turn to take it off? I assume left like most but don't want to torque on it and have it snap off in the crank. Also what is the best way to loosen the dampner bolt without having the crank/dampner turning with it? Thanks

Anybody?

you turn it "standard" righty-tighty lefty-loosy

Put the car in gear with the parking brake on. 15/16" socket, big breaker bar.

Remember that there is a washer under the bolt. You have to remove the washer to remove the balancer. If you don't, the puller will push against the washer and strip out the puller and/or the crankshaft threads.

Thanks for the help, I just didn't want to start cranking and break something.

Make sure you use a gear puller and not just some big @ss prybar to pull the balancer.

A friend just did his, here is some good advice. Good luck, I had mine done at a shop, when I put a new clutch and tranny in the second time.
