serp. belt
 

We just installed ASP underdrive pullies and the stock belt is in need to be replaced so I ran up to the auto parts store and got a belt and it is to long but it is the belt said to be for the car(87 hatch w air)but the funny thing is the belt that is on it is just fine besides the fact it is starting to come apart so what length belt do I need.

I had a similar problem after my pulley installation. I mixed different size pulleys so the size that should have fit didnt. Get a buddy to pull your belt tensioner up and take some string and put it on the pulleys just like the belt would be,then measure the length of the string. That number should be on the new belt like on Gates belts (k060696). The 060 part means 6 rib pulleys, the 696 means 69.6 inches in length. It may take a few tries to get it just right.Good luck.
