Rear End Gears Questions

Okay, Im thinkin of getting some gears (3.73s). When I put the info into a some runs on my computer program, I LOSE some of my time in the quarter, from a 14.7 to like a 15.5. I know its just a program and it doesnt count till im on the road but its just something Ive been lookin at. What RPM do you launch at? Do you even use first gear? It shows too much tire spin in first to be usable. Either way, im still getting the gears, its just some q's I had.

The computer program is wrong, but it could be for a number of reason's anyways heres some help.

I launch at 1800rpms when I use my drag radials, it is all the car can take without spinning the sh*t out of the tires. It takes practice but believe it or not the car will be easier to launch.

Yeah you use first gear to launch, you will love the rush of the gears after you put them in.

You will love your gear it will make the most increase it your time for the least amount of money you will swear you gained a hundred horsepower.

When in doubt find a person posting on the page that lives around you that has gears and go for a ride, most would be willing to take you for a ride.

I live in Fresno, have 4.10's in my 5-speed.
If it's worth the 2 hr. drive, i'll take ya for a spin.
W/ my ET streets i was able to launch around 3500-4000

As much as Id love to out for a ride, I cant cuz I work full time and go to school on my days off just too busy. Thanks for the offer though.

Another thought though. Since I dont live near any tracks I wont be getting any drag radials. Would getting the gears still be good or too much wheel spin? I currently have Dunlop SP5000 245/50 16's. They are All-Season Super High Perfomance tires, something like that. I thought and read they are a good tire, better than most(I know not as good as DR's). Would those be good.

Either way I cant get rid of them yet, my car is also a daily driver and I just got the tires in October.THX
