wiring

does anyone know where i can find a wiring diagram for an 88 mustang? My main engine wiring harness was destroyed and i got one from a 93 I know the fuel pump relay was moved to the engine bay.. but there is a connection that has no where to go on the other engine bay harness near the wiper motor in the corner... If someone knows what im talking about please help!!!!

2 wires? Yellow/black and red/yellow?

What does it look like, and what are the wire colors?

the connection has i believe 5 wires that goes into it... located on the driver side in the engine bay.. in the corner near the fireway... on a 88 there are 2 connectors there on a 93 there is only one.... I need to know what that connector is for.. hope that helps some.

I have a 93 and there is a connector on the drivers side that just hangs there, not connected to anything.

Maybe this is the same one, but im not sure, as I dont have my car to look at right now.

You're not referring to the diagnostic plug-in, are you? Is the connector kinda shaped like a house?

no but its right next to it.. on 93 there would only be one more big connector on an 88 there r to big connectors... i wish i had a pic to show you...

Look closely and carefully at the wires where they go into the connector, and write down the wire colors. They will be the cleanest and easiest to read at the connector. Post the results.

I know what you are talking about, I have a 90 & 91 harness & the 91 has one connector. It is either red or brown, hard to tell it is kinda ditry right now. I don't think that harness will work in an 88.I tried the 90 harness in an 87 once and the fuel pump wouldn't come on and it had 2 connectors like the 87. But when it was swapped an 89 harness everything worked fine.

yup thats it.... the fuel pump wont come on.... im so fed up with this car im gonna sell it!!!!! lol umm does anyone know of some way of making the wiring harness work or where i could get a different harness??

Coolbreeze 10-10-2001 11:50 PM

It can be done by rewirng the harness or putting an 87,88 or 89 harness in there. Thats about the best that can be done......

Try www.alldatadiy.com

For 24.95 you get wiring diagrams, diagnostic charts, parts and labor pricing (with part numbers usually) plus some some additional repair info. Usually it comes straight from the factory repair manuals.

They have a demo using a Toyota I believe. Check it out. It should have what you need.

Good luck,

Rich D.
