New to Mustangs, need advice/expertice

I recently purchased a 88GT 5.0. So I went out and bought a a few Mustang magazines to start getting myself aquainted with my new car. A couple of queations, what is your opinion of switching the rear diff from the stock 3.5 in my car (its got an automatic and a stock rear end. I have heard that it is 3.5) to a 3.7 from a BroncoII? Is it a LSD, if not, is it worth it in the long haul when many more performance enhancements will be done. As far as computer chips go, who has the best? Has anyone had any difficulty or relilability problems with the computer chips. Oh yeah call me chicken but I do not have the guts to let someone reprogram my car.
Thanks for the input. I am trying to catch up as fast as I can.

Yea your definately new http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif, i assume your talking about "3.5" as 3.55 ring and pinion rear gears, these are not stock, however, not much more performance than stock, although they help, yes a 3.73 gear ratio would workout for street/strip.

I have an ads chip, but you would be better off putting that money elsewhere, also, your car should not be "reprogramed" unless your getting a custom chip burned for heavy mods wich you obviously dont have.

the rearend may be worth it, but your better off getting some new motorsport gears, that way you have no chance of getting a whiney, or chattering rearend, hope ive been of some help.
good luck.....

Bump the timing to 13 or 14 degrees (whatever your car calls for) and go with the 3.73's! just my .02
