AOD shifting?
Whats with the 1-d-1 shifting on a AOD? Im afraid of hurting my tranny, can someone calm my fears.

My first mustang was an AOD and I never had any problems from the transmission as a result of doing the "shuffle". Lentech makes a valve body that I think keeps you from having to do this. I think it goes 1 to D to OD without engaging OD, it stays in 3rd. Don't hold me to the Lentech thing as I haven't checked into it myself, but I plan to.

get an art carr manual valve body, drive becomes 2nd and od becomes third and you have a push buttom for the actual overdrive. its so awesome it shifts real hard and fast. john

I do the shuffle sometimes.
Basically, take off in 1, then shift to D, once 2nd is FULLY engaged, shift back to 1. Once you are done with 2nd shift to D and you will be in 3. You can also use it to downshift. Let's say you are coming off the highway @ 100. You are on OD, then at 80 you go to D at 50-60 you can go to 1 (which is 2) and then it will automatically go to 1. If you do this properly and not too often, it should not hurt the tranny. Ian ------------------ Ian Sim ian@stangpower.com 1988 Mustang GT "Canadian Cobra", stock, AOD, loaded Tons of Products!
