what all do I need to drop in a V-8

Ok I've got a 302 and I'm wanting to put it in my car. I know I'll need a new trans and rear end and v-8 springs. And the cross member from a 5.0. Also will my gauges still work when I ditch fuel injection. what else do I need. Also does anyone know of any books or articles about doing this swap or a web sites.

thanks in advance

I have done that same swap 3 times now, only I used the EFI setup. Are you sure you want to go with a carb? You have so much work ahead of you, you may as well go the last mile and convert to EFI. In order to accomplish the swap, you really need a whole parts car to pick parts from. There are so many small things that you don't think of until later. Here's a partial list: front brakes, front springs(which you said), sway bar, driveshaft (if you are converting from AOD), engine, mounts, full exhaust, T-5, T-5 wire harness, rear end, cooling fan, fan shroud, distributor, tachometer, radiator, etc. If you plan to go the EFI route, than you will also need all 3 EFI harness, all sensors, intakes, MAF, etc. It would be cheaper to sell your car and buy a 5-liter with the engine already installed. It is not a difficult swap at all, but a very, very, involved one.

The reason I don't want to go with fuel injection is that I think it will make the swap a lot more complicated. Plus I will have to get a computer and a harness and all the sensors.

BS, the swap is quite simple!!! i did it in an 81.. converted 2.3 w 4 spd to 302HO auto... Bolted rite in, never even changed the driveshaft yolk or the crossmember!!

TB

forget EFI.. going from a 2.3 to a 302.... will be quite a change,,, the hp isn't going to matter, and carbs are easier!!!
