TIRE BRANDS???

Hey, guys. Does anyone have an opinion on tire brands for their Mustangs? I'm running GoodYear Eagle GS-Cs now, and it is time to replace them. I liked the performance, but they are pretty pricey. Does anyone have Comp TA's, Yokohamas, or Firestones, etc? How do you like them? Thanks for the opinion. Jake

I like my Firestone SZ50's. Good handling tire and good in wet weather.

Yes, good in wet weather is definitely a priority. I should have mentioned that my car is a daily driver that will see rain, snow, or sun. How much do they cost?

I have Comp T/A's. I like the handling of them alot but i dont have anything to compare them with as i just bought the car. I also havent had any rain yet. Ive heard thier good in the rain but notso in the snow. I dont have the snow problem http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif They look awesome though.

I have had the BFG Comp T/A HR4 and now the ZR series, niether are any good in rain (I think) and worse in snow. Rearend goes out a lot in the rain, have to watch the accelerator in the wet stuff - especially around turns. Snow is worse.
On a side note, Mustang's have a lot of torque, rear drive, lightwieght, so most tires will have some faults in other than optimal conditions.

I have the sz50s 245/50/16 om my baby. Even tho she dosent see alot of drive time, when i do drive to work, it rains here alot in the afternoons she handles like a dream. A dream I tell ya http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif . List is like 250 a tire, but I know the manager at a firstone dealer, so my price is way below that http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Bought Yokohama AVS Intermediates (4) from Tirerack.com and love them. Z rated, and much stickier than most tires. Fantastic in rain. Handling is much improved. Downside is they are only supposed to last 20,000 to 25,000 miles. I only drive it for fun, so 3-4k miles a year is fine.

I have Firestone Firehawk SZ50's. Excellent tire; very good traction, good in the wet, too. I don't drive the 'Stang in snow but no conventional performance tire will help a V-8 Mustang in snow. Lost cause.

I paid about $140. each for the SZ50's at a local tire warehouse (special ordered).

BFG, Nittos, and Yokahama would be my tire brands of choice. I've had good luck w/ all 3, but I really like my BFG Comp TA ZR1's. The looks are great and as long as you give it light throttle in the rain (as w/ any tire on a Stang), driving on wet pavements good too. Snow/ice are a different story for these cars......plus I love mine way too much to risk sliding into a tree.
