Rough Idle

I have a problem when at Idle. If i ride my car nice and gentle my RPM's are about 800 rpms, but one i ride the car hard and accelerate hard, once i come to a stop, the idle will no longer be under 1000 rpms.. It now sits at about 1100-1200 rpms. What can be causing this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
