Header advice

I need some header advice. Right now i have 1 5/8" motorsports. What are the advantages of longtube headers? Any advice would help me out.

Long Tube headers generate more horsepower
and torque, throughout the power range than direct replacement shorties. They also provide a deeper richer sound. One word of caution - they're much harder to install than shorties. On a fox body - you need to raise the motor, remove the steering linkage and a few other things to get them in. I'm in the process right now of installing MAC long-tubes on an 88GT.

I think the long tubes are out because of cost and the harder installation. I also want to use my existing h pipe that i just bought. What headers do you guys think i should get?

I've got Mac shortie headers, no problems so far. They've been on around a year now i guess.

If you have the Motorsport 1 5/8" already, why do you need a new set? IMO the Motorsports are better than many of the other headers because of the one piece flange. I bought the BBK's but wish I would have gone with the Motorsports instead, the BBK's were tweaked from the factory and I had nightmares for a few months with leaks and ended up taking 'em on and off five times before BBK replaced them. This was a couple years ago though and I know that Bassani and several others have come out with new and improved sets, but I don't know much about them. The jet hot or ceramic coated is nice btw if you have stainless pipes that have discolored or something.

I have BBK 1 5/8 equal length shorties on my car they look really nice. In my opinion they are the best shorty header out there right now.

I have used the JBA Stainless headers before. They bolt right in. Everything fits and works without a problem.

Im also thinking about converting from shorties to full length. I was looking at bbk full lengths, waht do yall think of those, and since i was re-doing the exhaust, a friend recommended converting to 3 inch piping, im not seriously considering it yet, but just wondered if any one else has some advise before i spend the non existant money

I really like my BBK 1 5/8 longtubes with the x pipe, sounds nice when you get on it but it's nice and quiet otherwise. The install wasn't too bad, had to lift the motor on the passenger side but otherwise it wasn't bad at all, and the performance over stock is amazing.
