Ever since I got my new motor installed...

I've had a lot of fluid spitting out the back of my tail-pipes upon initial start-up. I understand that it's condensation. But what causes it? My car didn't used to do this with the old motor..........

Thanks

Well, your motor is "built" now, right? Look at how much more air it's using. Plus if your compression was raised, that'll squeeze more water out of the air you're burning. Unless you've blown a head gasket, don't worry about it. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

Your engine is healthy! That is one of the best signs there is of a healthy engine. In a perfect world, your exhaust would be pure water. I'm no chemist, but I had it explained to me in my college engines class 16 years ago. The actual chemical content would be H2O. But, no engine is perfect. The only reason it stops after the car warms up is because the hot exhaust evaporates it. As engines wear, they become less efficient, and the amount of exhaust turned to water lessens. If you want quick proof, go to any new car lot and ask them to start up a car for you. There will be instant puddles underneath where the exhaust pipe(s) exit. Be happy about your watery exhaust! Unless of course it's green.

Take care,
-Chris
