360 big block

I HAVE A 360 OUT OF A 72' CAMPER SPECIAL TRUCK THAT I CONSIDERING INSTALLING IN AN 82' GT MUSTANG. I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TYPE OF PERFORMANCE OPTIONS DO I HAVE? I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS BLOCK IS THE SAME BLOCK USED FOR THE 429.I WANT THIS CAR TO BE A PURE DRAG RACER FOR THE 1/4 MILE.

The 360 is part of the FE familt-390-428-427 etc. This is not the same as the 429/460 family. Therer is a lot you can do to this engine. It can be made into a 390 pretty easily. If you bore it .050 and get a 390 crank when you trade your crank in, all you will need is 390/428 rods. there are lots of parts availble for this ancient engine. Swapping it may prove to be trouble????

IF, you decide to do the swap, I may have a 4 speed trans for you. I have a 4 speed from a '68 390 Galaxie 500 and a 3 speed out of a '72 F250. Keep me in mind.

To keep it short, the 360 is a total POS notorious for throwing rods. They will not rev high either. Better to go with a 390 or 428 if you like the FE's. It will take MAJOR modifications to fit one into a Fox body though as there are NO parts made for this swap. If you want a big block in a Fox body, get a 460.
