One hot 'Stang
Yeah the red paint is looking hot, but so is the engine! I've got a new water pump, checked all the hoses, rotted out the radiator, new overflow catch tank, new thermostat (180),and I had the temperature sensor checked, its ok. The coolant bypasses the intake by way of a, I think, copper tube (no leaks) because were the hose connects to the intake, two metal sleaves, it was clogged(calcium from hard water of the the previous owner). I've tried everything and it still wants to run hot (to the top of the N when I'm on the interstate. Any suggestions? Oh, also I have a idling problem, doesnt want to stay cranked at all in the morning. I mean I have to warm it up for like 10 minutes for it to stay running, and even then it'll somtimes cut off....Whew, where to begin!? http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif Thanks in advance for any help!

Also check the idle air bypass to make sure it is functioning. With mine unplugged on my coupe, it won't start cold for $hit.

Oh, forgot I also replaced the mass air flow sensor, not high performance, just a replacement.

If that tube in the intake is clogged with calcium deposits you may have the same problem in the heads and block. Just a thought.
For the cold start problem it sounds like your EGR and throttle body may be dirty. ------------------ 90 Mustang LX 5.0 My Ride*My Site [This message has been edited by AxemanZZ (edited 02-02-2001).] |
I had the idle air thing checked and its A-OK. Soft water dissolves the calcium so there shouldn't be any in the block. I'll check the throttle body, and EGR ASAP. Just to add on, whenever it's been running for a while (trip down the rode), it'll crank and idle like a champ. Thanks again.

That's exactly what mine was doing before I cleaned the TB and EGR out. It could be your problem as well, but as you know it could be a number of things with these cars. I saw another post that said to clean the 10 pin connector behind the TB as well.

get a 3-core radiator, and if you hhave a clutch fan, get rid of it, imo they are crap, electric's the only way to go.
