Y Pipe

Does anyone know where I can get a Y pipe from for a 92 4cyl.

Jett 06-06-1999 12:40 PM

sorry man you can't get a y-pipe from n/a 2.3L's. They don't exsist. But you can get a y-pipe from 86 SVO's. I just so happen to know a fella that has a couple laying around.

Brad.

For a Y-pipe, just go to your local parts store, like Murray's, NAPA, Autozone, Pepboys, or something like that. If they carry Maremont Exhaust parts, a stock 86 SVO replacement Y-pipe cost $34. the thing is, your get no horsepower gain, you actually lose. I tried it, and actually slowed down instead of sped up like I wanted. Don't do it unless your talking 150+hp.

Not true with the loss of HP with the "Y" pipe. I felt a HP gain immediately. Not a major gain, but an increase, plus it gives the 2.3 a nice sound running duals.

Not to bust your bubble 225, but was this a butt-o-meter or hard numbers?

Oh, one more thing. You can loose hp/tq, but usually it is because there is little or no backpressure, I.E. too much of a freeflowing exaughst on a naturally aspirated engine.

True on the back pressure. But the duals if set up right will have enough back pressure to add about 10 hp....not the speed of a 2.3t, but enough that the driver will notice it.
