V-6 conversion
Anybody know how to swap a late model V-6 and five speed into a '65 with I-6 and three speed?
|
An even better question: why would you even bother with a V6 when a V8 is a virtual drop-in??? If fuel economy is a concern, you have the wrong vehicle altogether. V8 parts are very easy to come by, and you won't have to have many custom parts made. The V8's you should look at are the 289, 302, and 351. You will have to get a new converter housing for the V8, as the inline-6 is a bit different. Again, very easily found part. Hope this helped, I'm tired...so tired...

The reason(s) for wanting to replace the I-6 and 3 speed with a V-6 are:
A) Economy B) a 16 year old daughter who will be driving it C) I believe the state of CA frowns on swaps of this type. I would personally like to drop a 302 in the critter. |
