Turbo
I know Brad will respond to this one. I might have the opportunity to swap from a 2.3 to a 2.3T. My mechanic has a 2.3T that he's pulling from a merkur. Not sure of how much he wants for the full swap. Any idea on what would be a good price to swap both engines.

Hmm, kinda hard to say. How much does he want for the engine? I would do it myself, but I understand if ya can't. Also keep in mind that he will have to work on the wiring harness (will either splice them or swap them out, he will also need to use the computer from the XR). This might cost ya a good bit. But doing it yourself is a good option if u wanna save some money and take credit for your accomplishment, and it really is pretty simple. How many miles does it have and have you heard it run?

Haven't heard it run yet, as my mechanic just mentioned it to me. But he did say that the Merkur owner had documents for all repairs and maintenance on the car. Right now it's in the preliminary stage of seeing if a swap is worth it.

Those engines are prime examples of the 2.3turbo and can command a pretty penny. Engine swaps take up a lot of time, see what you can do to help out, or finish up, and have him do the basics otherwise it'll be too expensive.

It can get expensive, but so does any other swap. The best way to save is to do the work yourself and don't get in a hurry. It is easier than everyone thinks, of course you will need the tools and the room. The benefits are worth it though :-)
