I am getting ready to buy a mustang , it has the cobra emblems on it . I was wondering if there is a way to check the VIN to see if it is a cobra . I would also appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to decode the VIN .

The VIN will not tell you if it is a Cobra II or not. Look for the buck tag. A small piece of aluminum (approx1.5" x 2.5") screwed to the core support on the driver's side of the hood latch. They're usually behind the PS cooler, if so equipped. This tag will have CB on it if it is a factory-built Cobra II. KC will denote a King Cobra. All factory-built 5.0 cars will have a V8 on the tag as well. This is in addition to the usual means of verifying the Cobra II status of the car(Qtr louvers, rear window louvers, spoilers, etc)
