firing order

I am still kind of new at this so please don't laugh to much. Been reading in magazines about the 302 and 351 windsor motors , (my 70 has a 351W) and I have also been looking at some performance upgrades for my car and there are certain parts listed that will work with a 289/302 and 351W with 302 firing order?????? Now here is the question,,,, What is the firing order for a 302 and a 1970 351W I can tell what my firing orger is by looking at the intake which is no big deal. But what is the difference ????? please enlighten me so I don't go around looking silly . Thanks in advance for your help .

Early 289/302 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
This changed with the HO 302 (5.0) in 1985 I believe.

All 351Ws are 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, which is the same as the HO 302 (5.0)

You can swap cams back and forth but you have to be careful with the roller cams, because they will not work with a non roller motor. They do make retro roller conversion kits however, using special cams.

with the 1970 351w is it possable to run a paxton super charger on it or would i have to modify the engine too much to make it work??? just trying to make a bit more horses is all .. i am also the originator of the first question , i use one name at work and one at home cause of different e-mail addresses ..

I believe that would be a question for Paxton, as they sell the supercharger kit for the 289/302. They have a website at http://www.paxtonautomotive.com

Personally, I don't see why it wouldn't work, the block is only a little taller...

I didn't even know they made the windsor in 1970, I thought they stopped when the cleveland came out. Did it come stock in your 70 or did someone/you put it in?

that is the way the lady i bought it from said she bought it when it was brand spanking new (she was supposedly the original owner). the gentleman that is doing some of the restoration work on is researching the V.I.N. for me to let me know just exactly what the car is supposed to have . as the door tag had been removed when it was repainted by her . It also has a c4 automatic and a nine inch rear with some fairly low gears, not quite sure as to what they are yet . AS to your question about the 1970 and a 351W a close friend of mine when we were in high school had a yellow and black MACHI with a 351W4V in it from the showroom of the dealer . Could have been a special order I don't really know . But they are out there .

the 351w has always been produced from 1969 to 1996..
