Head Valves

Is there a way to tell if the valves are pre 1975 or replaced with harder kind without taking the heads off? I'm going to replace the valve covers soon. The car runs great, but lacks repair history.

Thanks in advance.

Wat year are block and heads? Anything after 1973 should surely have hardened seats in it.
If you have a 1975, I wouldn't even worry about it.

The car is a 71 Mach 1 with 351C. Someday down the road I might rebuild the engine, but for now it's running fine. To be on the safe side I plan to put in new valves opposed to regrinding. But it would be nice to know if the valves are original or not.
