sucking oil

I can't believe I was so naive. I had the #4 cylinder DROWNING in oil. I thought for sure I broke a ring, or even a piston.

OOOOOO I get mad even thinking about it. The good news is the problem is small and easy to fix....the bad news is I've been driving my car around for weeks leaving a huge trail of smoke <not cool>.

The problem was I cut out the oil baffle in the valve cover to clear the roller rockers....and combined with the fact that I had routed the PCV hose to the vacuum tree on the intake <conveniently located in the #4 intake port> and all the oil was being sucked right into the #4 cylinder. About 1/2 quart a WEEK!!!

I moved the PCV hose to the carb and solved the problem, now I need to get some taller valve covers.

Oh well, live and learn....at least my passenger side exhaust pipe is well lubricated. Hah. It also led to the discovery that a section of the deck lid weatherstripping is missing. PE-YEW!!
