TOO MUCH RUBBER

Hi Gang,
I have a 66 fastback restomod. I've put Cragar SS (Toys from my childhood) 8" wheels on the back. The problem is that when I dip I rub pretty hard. It's a really nice street ride with all sorts of goodies and I want it to run right. If possible I'd like to lower the beast an inch or so for handling purposes, but as it is now, I'd just like to drive without rubbing. I've been considering having my axle cut down (I have a 9" rear end) or even body mods (I'd rather not) But I'd really appreciate info from experienced mustangers. I do need extra rubber in the back as I have a bit of horse power and a 5 speed....

Thanks in advance
eric

Have you removed the inner lip on the fender?
That really makes a difference. Also, what size tire are you using?

What condition are you rear shocks and leaf springs?

I run a 246 60 R15 tire on my '66 and don't have any rubbing problems, with the right setup http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

Had that problem before replacing the 30 year old leaf springs. Also added a set of SSM (South Side Machine) lift bars. On launch, the car raises up instead of lowering. This pushes the tire hard into the pavement. Had the GT setting on the front, with 10/90 drag shocks. Great combination. Also had the T5 with Centerforce clutch.
