65 coupe: interior $$$$
My 65 coupe is almost ready for its interior work to begin . From soup to nuts , what is this going to cost me ? Need everything , seats , headliner , carpet , dash pad , and dash needs paint also . Please advise .

Installed, mine ran me about 3000.00. That was seats, dash pad, headliner, refinish all dash paint and inner quarter panels, rear deck, door panels, steering wheel, handles, emblems and probably some more I forgot.

Last year I re-covered my seats(two buckets and standard rear) over a weekend and saved a ton of money. I am not that mechanical of a person, but it was actually a fairly straightforward procedure. The only cost to me (aside from a little blood, sweat, and tears) was in the materials. Hog rings, upholstery, and seat buns cost me less than $250. Maybe I was just lucky, but I think the seats came out great and I saved hundreds in trim shop fees. So to make a long story short, depending on what type of restoration you are doing (daily driver, concours, etc., you might be able to shave the cost down quite a bit by doing some stuff yourself.
Sorry for rambling and hope this helps a little. Brett ------------------ 66 Standard coupe 200 inline 6 - Pertronix ignition, K&N, Clifford Perf. 6 into 2 headers(not installed yet), Holley carb, three row radiator 96 GT Convertible K&N (more to come) Where'd my money go? |
I did the interior on my '66 coupe about 3 yrs. ago. Standard seats with new seat buns, carpet, headliner, door panels, new insrument panel bezel, dash pad, repainting the inner doors and rear panels was about $1200 doing all the work myself. No new steering wheel or inside door handles or window cranks. Did replace window felts. Ended up looking pretty good for amateur work. Did take a lot of work though. Anyway, was what I could afford.
Good luck on yours. Rev |
