Running like crapola.

Hey! My car has been running like crap for a while now. Here's what it is doing: It takes a while and a really bad sound to start up. When it starts up it sounds ok but its revving really weird. The best way I can describe it is this "vroom-vroom-vroom- vroooooommmmmmmm-vroom-vroom" sorry, couldnt think of any other way. OK. When I put it in gear, aside from almost dying, when I hit the gas it goes like this "vro-POP POP POP vroom POP" and sometimes stalls. It only goes on idle when ever I hit the gas, that poppin crap happens. Outta time? Running too rich or lean? Whats the deal? HELP! Thanks.

I would check the timing, and check for a cracked distributor cap. Might be a cloged
jet in your carb. Do the basics first. Set the timing check/change plugs, replace points. Also open your hood at night while the car is running to make sure your spark plug wires aren't arcing.

Also, one of my cylinders is missing and some one told me that i may need a new timing chain or i got stuck valves. how can i check?

run a compresion check or check for vaccum leaks if you run on 7 cyl and suck air it should go to doctor

It sounds like something in your timing or the plugs. The timing may be off, your plugs could be clogged, there could not be enough of a spark going to the plug. There are a lot of possibilities. About the cylinder. If you dropped a cylinder you should be able to tell when its idling because it should be missing a beat in the sound. To find out which one it is just put a compression gauge to each cylinder until you find which one has no compression.
