lowering a 65

I got a suspension kit from Mustangs Plus, and my 65 coupe is no lower than stock. I don't want a lowrider, but I would like to lower the center of gravity.

Part of the problem is that I need to put miles on it, but I doubt that will make it as low as I would like. So I called M+, and they said I could get a "lowering box" for the rear, and I could cut coils for the front.

I'm a little wary of cutting coils; what other alternatives do I have? TIA

You can get replacement coils for the front that will lower the front end 1". Musang Unlimited has them.

Have you lowered the upper control arms like the shelby's do?
I agree with driggins they make 1" lowering springs instead of cutting them.

Several years ago, I ordered a kit from Mustangs+ that was supposed to lower the front 1 ". I needed at least another 1" so I did cut the coils to do it with no problems. The way I did it was by cutting 1/4 turn off the coil, no more, and trying it back into the car. This gave me the ride height that I wanted. I used a cut-off wheel to cut the coil, not a torch that might compromise the springiness of the coil. Did you know they make both thick and thin spring insulators for the the shock towerers? This makes 1" difference in ride height. Don't be afraid to cut the coils if that's needed. Just make sure that it's what you want, and then do it with a cut-off wheel. Any questions, e-mail me.
