New Carpet

Hi folks,
Santa brought me some new carpet for Christmas. I plan to install it this weekend (3 day weekend... YES!!!). Does anybody have any helpful hints, or don't do this you'll screw it up kinds of advice? It's for a 65 convertible with a bench seat.
Thanks,
Brian

Carpet isn't too tough. Just take your time and you shouldn't have any problems. If Santa didn't bring you some sound deadener you might want to get a kit. It makes all the difference in the world and unless it's a drag car the few extra pounds won't hurt anything. I used a razor blade to cut slits where all the seat bolts and sill plate screws went. Small razor cuts prevent you from unraveling and twisting the carpet pile.
Line up the carpet real well when all the seats, kick panels, etc. are out of the car and it should just lay right in. I also used spray adhesive to keep it from slipping.

Hope this helps.

Only use the adhesive around the edges. This allows the carpet to continue to "settle" after it's installed for that perfect molded fit.
