how fast is a 68 gt/cs in the 1/4mile

I own a 1968 California Speial mustang & was wondering what this thing could do in the 1/4 mile.
it has dual exhaust, c-4, stock 289 & rated at 210hp

Probably about 17.5 seconds and about 80 mph. Not going be a lightning bolt stock.

Yes, welcome to the board, and we hope you enjoy the Stang. The CS models look really cool.

I'll agree with Rev. The stock 289/302 cars were not very fast. They were fun to drive, but the puny stock cams and tiny port/valve arrangements on the heads pretty much shut these engines down around 4k.

I would say 17-17.5 stock depending on engine condition. They really were no faster than this new. A four speed car might be a little quicker, but 16.5 is probably tops there too.

A small cam, aftermarket intake, and some gears really make it feel much quicker. Doc.

I asked the same question to people about my 1966 fastback with 289 4v 3speed standard with 3.00 gears and on radial tires and got about the same response as you,but when I took it to the track I ran my best time of 14.97 @93.53 mph. I have had my car for 10 years and it had 90,000 miles on it when I ran this time. So i guess what I am saying is take it to the track and try it yourself I bet you will have a ball!
