5speed for automatic

I was wondering if you could swap a 5 speed for a AOD tranny. Currently I have a AO in my 67 fastback but this summer I hope to swap, besides needing the parts to convert to a manual period, will it fit and will it be weird to install? Like cutting sheetmetal. If anyone else has done this please reply.

I have been researching the same thing. www.FordMuscle.com has an article on T5 conversion. www.webtripper.com/automotive/ford/mustang/t5swap.html is another site I was pointed to. www.geocities.com/2bav8 is another. They are all T5 related but that is what I was researching.

I did the T10 to T5 swap and had to buy a new cross member.(I'm sure you could fabricate something if you can weld and do metal work.) You will also need to find a new flywhell which I'm sure you new but make sure it is a 28oz. flywheel. Also there are 2 pieces you might need from a site called www.windsorfox.com They are the small and large pivot pieces. The limk usually doesn't work when you go to it from mustangworks so go to it through your browser.

Thanks for the help guys, now I know I can do it. Got another question though. I need to find the stuff to convert my mustang from an automatic to a manual. I really hate to buy the parts from the classic mustang websites. Does anyone know a good place where I can get parted out peices? Also what years will match up with my 67?
