Who has done it and how hard was it?

I did it a few years ago and it wasn't too bad. The mistake I made was to first try it without removing the windshield or back glass. I had to get a new headliner ($25-30), and then do it right. I'd recommend removing the seats and then covering the carpet. You don't want to get weatherstrip adhesive anywhere you don't want it to stay. The directions that came with the headliner were actually pretty good. I think it took pretty much all day. When removing and installing the glass, you'll need a helper and also new rubber gasket/seals and some windshield sealer. Read up on it and take your time and it'll turn out looking good.

I just did it on my 66 this year. Rev gives some excellent advice. Another tip someone gave me (AFTER !!! ARRRRGGHHH!) was to put all the screws in (i.e. for the visors, mirror, coat hanger, etc..)when the headliner is out, and screw them all the way in . This way you can easily locate the holes and cut the headliner where the phillips x is in the screw, remove the screw, and put in the item (i.e. visor). Also, you may want to have a heat gun handy. By heating the healiner it makes it easier to stretch. I read 3 books on this before I did it and these tips would have helped.

In a 66 coupe

I did it on my 68 FB. I pulled the front and rear glass. Also, the seats. Get plenty of light, heat gun, spray glue and most important is LOTS OF PATIENTS. Took me 3-4 hours. Looks good too.
