mustang/granada wheels
posting this for friend. 68 mustang front drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes from a ford granada. was told that custom mustang wheels would fit, however hub on the granada disc are too large. are there different size granada hubs.
thanks. |
I don't know this for sure, but I think 15in wheels would be needed. Styled Steel wheels probably wouldn't fit (any year) because they all have that really small hub recess. Mine couldn't be balanced at the tire shop on the regular machine because of this. Not real sure what "custom mustang wheels" are exactly but would bet styled steel won't work.

I have a granada with front discs and my 14 inch wheels don't rub
I don't know if the conversion on mustangs makes it different |
Stan, If your friend has the steel styled wheel it won't fit the Granada rotor. I did read somewhere that you can get the granada hub machined down to fit though. Try Mustang Steves site or any other article on the Granada brake swap.

I should add, newer ford black steel rims, 14 or 15 inch will fit the granada rotors.

Murray is correct. The newer rims will fit, 14 or 15 inch. I think most all aftermarket wheels will fit, but the early Ford wheels are just a tiny bit smaller.

All I did with my front disk conversion (Granada) was to get 15" 4 1/2" bolt circle rims from various tire shops (junk yard types) here in Houston for $10 each. Got 6" wide rims for the front and 6 1/2" for the rear. Painted them shiny black, Chrome lug nuts, chrome trim rims and all looks good for a resto mod Stang. BFG 235/60/15's rear and 215/60/15s front work really well. All this worked well on my '66 coupe.
