In-dash Tachometer for '68 Mustang
 

I have a '68 that does not have an in-dash tachometer. I would like to add a tach, but also want to make it look stock. My instrument bezel has an empty 2 1/16 opening right in the center. I think this was for the clock.

Does anyone make a tachometer that will fit in this opening? I'm sure I'm not the only '67 or '68 owner that would be interested in this one.

Yes, the center opening is for the clock. I have though about moving my tach from the steering column to that location. I'm sure any 2" or 2 1/8" tach would work there.

My 68 has a factory tach. I don't think it came orignally with the car, but was added sometime in its travels.

The center small gauge is a clock and the one on the right is the fuel gauge.

I just sent my factory tach out to a place in GA to have it fixed. He is also changing my clock to a quartz movement.

I have seen several 67/68's with modern gauges installed in those top three pods. When done they look very good and not out of place.

Thanks for the info on this. I've tracked down a few 2 1/16 tachs that look OK in the pics, but I want to see them close up. In the pics, the 8K one's have very small numbers.

I'll post how this all ends up.

I did see a set up that had a LARGE Autometer tach in the large right side pod. You would have to move the fuel gauge and temp gauge. But heck it wouldn't be real small that you couldn't hardly see. The large tach looked real good there too.
