8" Traction-lock clutches...how hard to replace

As I posted earlier in the Street Racer's Corner, I had a problem at the track with water at the starting line. It seems this caused my Traction-lock clutches to become history. This differential is only 5 yrs. old / 25,000 miles, so bearings and the rest of it are OK. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the clutch-pack in it? Does one need a clutch-pack compressor like in an auto tranny rebuild? Or should I just take the 3rd member to a shop? Any info appreciated.

It's not difficult to do if you have any expierence with rear ends, and no you don't need a compressor. Just pull the axles, and take the diff out of the housing. Now take out the "S" shaped spring, spider and side gears, and clutch plates. Just put it back together with the new plates and ya got it. Hardest part is usually getting the spring back in. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif
