what about the horn?

hi
does anyone else have a problem with their horn? i have checked my circuit, replaced the broken horn ring (great junker deal on that! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif ) and it seems to have all the bits but it still doesn't go. Any ideas?

If they are the original horns then they are probably burnt out. Also try cleaning up (wire brush or steel wool) inbetween the mounting bolt, the frame, and the horn (where the horn grounds).

About your horn, Mine was broken too, and I took the entire horn assembly apart, I was missing parts but I got them and it still didn't work, so I looked at the two leads that make it work (there under the Stering wheel, when you take the wheel off there right there) They had worn down, so I took some plastic and put it Underneeth, and it shot them up enought to touch, and now it works.

On my 64 1/2 with the 289, I've had some weird Horn problems.

For the longest time I thought I was going nuts. I would be standing in my garage at night and hear the Quacking sound every 5 minutes or so. I checked all around the garage for an animal or something. Did that for months, wondered where in the hell that sound was coming from.

One night I was adjusting the rocker arms when I heard the noise again. After 5 minutes, I found out it was my horns, I still dont know why they did that. They havent since I took it to Auto Electrical class to have my teacher check it out. Strange.

Could be a wiring thing. Occasionally the horn on my'67 won't work. If I jiggle around the wires under the dash it will start working again. Some day I'll fix it properly but for now this will have to do. E
