rattle in the rear
hi agian everyone
here's one that no mechanic has been able to find since I've purchased the car. 68 coupe to this day every time I drive over a speed bump or any other bump, there is a rattle under the rear of the car like something is hanging loose. I've taken it to a number of garages and even up on the rack, they can't find a thing. They'll even take it for a drive and they hear exactly the same thing I've alway heard, that rattle. Sound familiar? Any help would again be appreciated. Roger |
Sure it isn't the tailpipe hitting the rear frame rail or top of a shock??

My axle housing hits the tailpipes where they arch over on really big bumps. That makes a shiny spot on the occasional contact spots. Easy to see from underneath. That's even with 5 leaf springs and good shocks.

Kind of a stretch here but how about a loose exuast hanger? Not meaning to imply that you or your mechanics couldn't think of that but its an idea.
