Advice on Reproduction Sheet Metal
 

I am restoring a 65 coupe and need lots of sheet metal. I have received floor pans and the battery apron. Pans were OK, apron is horrible. I need a lot more and I want to be sure I get the best reproduction stuff I can get. There are so many sources, but very little opportunity to see what I'm getting before I buy. Ideas?

I buy most of my stuff from Mustangs Unlimited and National Parts Depot. Been real impressed with the sheet metal I've bought in terms of the quage and quality, however, rarely have I bought any reproduction piece that fits as good as the original. Have sent one decklid back and had to do some fine tuning (minor bending) on the front and rear valances I've ordered. I'd also like to know who makes, or sells, the best reproduction parts.

I don't know who makes the "best" aftermarket sheet metal, if there is such an animal. Everyone I have bought or seen comes in that plain looking "Taiwanis" looking cardboard with non-identifable markings on it.

You have to "adjust" all of it. But, if that is all that is out there, what are you going to do.....buy it.

I agree with the purchasing from Mustang Unlimited. They seem to have good quality repro stuff.

I have to agree with everyone so far. I've bought rear valance and a hood. Both needed a lot of "massaging" in my opinion. I mean like repairing "captured nuts" and brazing in studs in the hood and body work on the valance, including dolly and hammer work and Bondo, to make it fit. If I buy anything else, it's gonna have to be used Ford or new Ford stuff.

Anyone have experience with Goodmark panels? They sound good in the ads, but don't they all?
