429/351 t-56/4 spd top loader
Hey,
Should I keep my 351W and build it up or put in my 429 w/ my top loader...I figure the t-56/351 combo will give me better top end and the 429/ top loader with give me better torque but less top end...what do you think? ------------------ 1969 Mustang Stock New Top Loader 351W w/ 290 Horse power In the Works: T-56 6 speed |
Hook that 429 to that t65 and send me the 351W t5 combo for giving you such outstanding advice. Great top end from a double overdrive, and great grunt w/ 429.

right now I have a 4 spd top loader with my 351, a t-56 will not match up to a 429. Should I hook up a 351/t-56 6 spd or a 429/4 spd top loader. atleast I don't think a t-56 6 spd will maych up to a 429...the guys at USA Motorsport told me it would not.

Hey Kid,
Sorry for the total smart *** response, dosen't help you much. Your t56, is that the borg and warner 6 speed? How big is the bellhousing. I know putting a camaro 6 speed in an early camaro is difficult because the transmission tunnel has to be modified to get it to fit. Here are my thoughts. If you want to drive it on the street I would go with the 6 speed. I would be tempted to rebuild the 351 into a 392 or even a 427 stroker. If you want a street/strip car that dosen't see a lot of highway use, I would be real tempted to go with the 429 and get some real low end hit. That and some nitros would be real exciting. In the end, I think depending on your driving, either combo can be a winner. |
