Hey Rev, RE: ETs

I saw your question on my 1/4 mile times. I haven't run my car yet with all the new mods. I just got it back from the paint shop, so I need to let it dry for a few months.

I will be at the track next spring to see where I'm at. Hopefully, by that time I will either have:

1. New create motor - I leaning toward the 5.0 M-6007-XE3 from Ford Racing
2. Rebuilt my short block - compression rings are shot

Any thoughts on either of these routes?

Diablo, I was just curioius because our engine, tranny, and rear end seem simialar. I kinda like the idea of rebuilding the original block if it hasn't been bored before. That way you get to choose all the components yourself (pistons, heads, cam, etc).

My 289 block is the original and I don't think it has been bored out. The only problem around here is finding a good machine shop to do the short block. I've heard lots of horror stories and I want to take my time rebuilding this motor.

I like the crate motor idea because swapping it in should only take a few days. Then I can have my car to drive while I rebuild the 289.

Kind of an expensive way to go, but cheaper than throwing a rod and having to start over again.
